The story of the Zaharogiannis (Zachos) family is not a happy one.

Born amongst the mountains of Kalamata and enduring a voyage to America, they were met with untold struggle and loss. The years they spent searching for opportunity play out more like a tragedy than anything.

But through it all they had each other, and with it came good food. Roasted lamb in a backyard pit, Greek and English chatter, and delicacies aplenty were proof that they were alive and well.

This olive oil, straight from the mountains of Kalamata, is perhaps reflective of the Zaharogiannis family. The olive tree is known just as much for its resilience as for its fruit. Who knew something faced with such hardship could bear something so delicious?
